Fall Food Finds in Charlotte

It’s fall, y’all.  While I know there’s an urge to blow past Thanksgiving and fixate on all things red, green and Santa, can we stop for a minute and talk about the fall goodness that is in the Charlotte food scene right now?

Here are a few of our favorites but we want to hear yours!  Leave us a comment with your favorite fall food in CLT…

1. Butternut Zucca Pizza from Pizzeria Omaggio

When Omaggio invited us to come try out the menu* and we heard about the Butternut Zucca Pizza, we couldn’t not try it.  This seasonal favorite has a sweet butternut squash puree and is topped with house-made fennel sausage, fresh mozzarella and EVOO.   Omaggio’s traditional thin crust is the perfect compliment to the fresh flavors of this pie.

As a sidenote, I’ve established their Prosciutto Funghi pizza and the Burrata appetizer as my year round go-tos. So, so good.

* We should mention that this meal was provided to us gratis, but all opinions expressed are genuine.

2. Kabocha Squash Latte from HEX Coffee + Pumpkin Goat Cheese Scone from Whisk & Wood Bakery

If you’re looking for a departure from the PSL (but still secretly yearn for its spicy goodness), you need to check out the Kabocha Squash Latte from HEX.  The perfect compliment?   HEX carries delicious baked goods from Whisk & Wood and I’m obsessed with the Pumpkin Goat Cheese Scone.

3. Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream from Golden Cow Creamery

Okay, I know, it’s not pumpkin or squash, but Mexican hot chocolate* is one of my favorite treats when the weather turns cold.

Golden Cow does an awesome job of harnessing this flavor in their Vegan Mexican Hot Chocolate ice creamSidenote: I’m not vegan, but wanted to try this flavor and literally could not tell it was dairy-free.  Don’t sleep on this one – it’s one of their monthly flavors so it won’t be around forever!

*If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you need to pick this up on your next grocery trip or Target run.  It’s like regular hot chocolate but with cinnamon, nutmeg and a little kick of cayenne. So good.

The one we want to try: We’ve heard that Futo Buta has a Butternut Squash Ramen and we need it in our lives.  Have you tried it?
